This is the starting point for each room's transformation. First,
together we discuss your specific goals and what you want the
makeover to accomplish in order to create the home you've always
dreamed of. I focus on your personal style, and do not let my
preferences influence the design of your home. I believe that the
pieces that you have collected through the years are a reflection
of your personality, and can be artfully arranged to make the most
of the space you have. I have a wealth of crafts people and
installation resources with whom I often work, and can share those
contacts with you as part of my service to you.
Before my visit, I recommend you pull photos of rooms you like from
decorating magazines and books, so that I can get a clear idea of
the finished look you are going for...your "homework" assignment before
we meet. As we walk through the rooms
you want to change, I'll offer specific ideas on how to use your
own furnishings and accessories in fresh, new ways to meet your
goals. I also can guide you with paint color selection, remodeling
ideas including specific kitchen and bath remodeling advice and
specific tips for freshening your furniture with new fabrics.

The first visit begins with an efficient brainstorming session to
discuss your ideas and wish list, then I create a written step-by-
step master plan which I leave with you; although sometimes,
depending upon your needs, furniture rearranging and bookcase
styling can begin actively during that first visit. The first visit
generally averages three and one-half hours. In-home
consultation fee, $250 for first hour, $150 for each additional
hour. The consultation fee includes a written plan and follow-up email photographs
and sources after our meeting (my "homework" for you). For additional
follow-up home visits, there is a one-hour minimum charge. If you live in outlying
areas such as Friendswood, Kingwood, Fairfield, Clear Lake, Katy, Galveston,
The Woodlands, Conroe, Spring, Cypress, Sugarland, Missouri City, Channelview,
Baytown, etc. there is an additional travel charge of $30 each way.
After the first visit, I also offer complete decorating services
including to-scale floor plans and lighting plans, custom window
treatments, custom furniture fabrication and reupholstery,
remodeling advice, custom bookcase design with to-scale working
drawings, as well as specific kitchen and bath remodeling advice. I
can advise on surface selections such as tile and wood flooring,
carpeting, countertops, paint color selection, wallpaper and
lighting. I can shop with you (or for you) for surfaces, home
furnishings and accessories, area rugs and lighting. All of these
services are billed at $150/hour.
As an experienced photo stylist, I can ready your home for parties
by styling tabletops and bookcases, arranging flowers, rehanging
artwork and fluffing your rooms for picture-perfect presentation.
In order for me to give you the very best advice, I cannot solve
specific, new decorating problems accurately via email or over the
phone. We would need to schedule an in-home meeting at your
convenience. However, if a meeting is not possible, specific new
email or phone decorating advice not addressed at initial meetings
will be billed at $150/hour.

What does a makeover include? Normally it involves rearranging
furniture, rehanging pictures and restyling your accessories on
bookshelves and tabletops. You can assist me with rearranging
furniture and rehanging pictures, or I can bring in my design
associate (which speeds the process), for an additional fee of $30
per hour. If you would like personal references, I will happily
supply those.
Or, you can read satisfied customers' summaries on ShelterStyle.com's "testimonials" page.
Additionally, ShelterStyle.com has a perfect, Pages of Happiness rating on www.angieslist.com
on page 8 of the December,
2006 magazine.
Sometimes repainting and reupholstering might be suggested, and we
can discuss color direction together. I travel with paint fan decks
from several manufacturers so we can look at colors together. If
new upholstery is recommended, we can go together to look at
fabrics, which I prefer, or I can collect samples for you to look
at during our next visit. It is generally best to decide upon
fabrics before selecting paint colors.
I also consult on remodelings, space planning, surface selections and room additions. In-home consultation fee, $250 for first hour, $150 for each additional hour. My design associates can provide AutoCAD (computer aided drafting) documents, professional renderings, elevation drawings, space planning layouts and presentation boards, for an additional fee of $95 per hour.

your existing furnishings and accessories, just call 713.461.2063

our meeting together, cost, $250 initial one-hour consultation, $150 for each
additional hour.

Cancellation policy: Effective September 9, 2008 a flat cancellation fee of $100 will be billed for a client meeting cancelled less than 48 hours in advance of the scheduled meeting time. Everyone becomes ill, has an ill family member or a very unexpected death at the last moment before a meeting. Those cancellations are normal and of course will be exempted.
I'll go shopping with you, which I prefer, or shop for you. Hourly
fee, $150, plus the cost of the items.
I can make your house look party-perfect in no time. I'll style
your tables, spruce up your bookshelves and arrange candles and
flowers. Hourly fee, $150, plus supplies. Please call well in
advance to book the day.
A home that has been professionally staged will sell much faster. A
potential buyer needs to be able to "see" themselves in your home,
so the home needs to be de-cluttered, simplified and "de-
personalized". Before you call the Realtor, call me at 713.461.2063
to schedule an in-home staging consultation. If needed, I can
provide sources so you can accomplish any minor home improvements,
such as painting, wallpapering or updating flooring. In-home
consultation fee, $250 for first hour, $150 for each additional hour.
Shelterstyle.com can help you decide what will fit, and what won't,
in your new home. Let me simplify these tough decisions. In-home
consultation fee, $250 for first hour, $150 for each additional
hour. My design associates can provide AutoCAD (computer aided
drafting) documents, professional renderings, elevation drawings,
space planning layouts and presentation boards for your new home,
for an additional fee of $95 per hour.
